This is a clip from the Universal Picture's movie: Serenity. The opening of the movie presents a series of important dramatic moments, which I highlighted with musical parallels:
1) An uplifting theme for Universal's logo
2) A mysterious mood, evoking humanity's venture into space.
3) And an emotional theme, which reflects both the heroism and conflict which the story embodies.
This excerpt is from a film by director Florens Fanciulli. I collaborated with Florens in 2006 on this poetic portrait. We were both honored when it was featured at Cannes '07, Short Film Corner.
It was important to find a musical mood that complimented the surreal imagery in the film. My aim was to write music which had a pulsing quality to it, to embody a 'celebration of life'.
The abstract and thoughtful nature of this film is also complimented by the dreamlike quality of the music.
This is a snippet from a computer animation designed and created by professional CGI artist Glenn Vivares. It was commisioned by a San Francisco based company, as a multimedia presentation.
Here, it was important that my music engaged the viewer, with it's ethereal and introspective mood. It's a bit of an homage to the Steven Soderbergh film : Solaris.
